92 POINTS - 2008 VINTAGE

PETITE SIRAH

"The 2008 Petite Sirah bursts from the glass with layers of super-ripe, opulent fruit. The Petite Sirah tannins frame the wine beautifully through to the finish. This is a boisterous, intense style with an attractive combination of jammy fruit and firm structure. Hints of creme de cassis and crushed rocks wrap around the intense finish. This could use another year or two in bottle." Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.

Petite Sirah 2009

Winemaker notes: The Somerston Estate is our 1628-acre property with 12.5 acres planted to Petite Sirah vines. Located high in the eastern hills of Napa Valley, Somerston sits at elevations ranging from 820 to 2400 feet. We selected this Petite Sirah from five different hillside blocks.  The harvest for Petite Sirah started in the early morning hours beginning on September 22nd and the last block was harvested on October 18th.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Winemaker notes: Our 2009 Priest Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon harvest started during the last week of October. The long hang-time and great weather made for a perfect balance of fruit and structure in this wine. This wine has great structure yet is approachable now. The release of the 2009 vintage continues the tradition of previous releases by over delivering on quality. This wine was aged for 20 months in 40% New French Oak and 60% Neutral French Oak.
